Cognitive Surface Adjustments
I
Iuu Iuc Icu Icc
Iuu has never had to increase E behavior in primitive I adjustment
Probably expanded and exploited I traits
Behaviorally passive - highly ideational
Insulate emotionally from the world
Not very involved in outside world except for practical sustenance - needs
to find those to take care of them.
Does well in structured environment - needs structured environment
Does not need others for emotional gratification
Iuc
Like to be more outgoing
Learned more
Icc
Concerted Surface e e\- very comfortable in extroverted mode
I behavior is not a threat
Comfortable over learned e
Icu
Most difficult and conflicted
Moved away from I and then choose surface I
Icu essentially usually accomplished by narrowing of intellectual level
Becomes doer in a narrow sphere
Learned intellectual discipline but narrowed (low I score)
E
Euu Never has had to acquire intellectual discipline. Always leaning to
outside world.
Not an ideational person
Euc - Come upon intellectual for the first time. Voluntary.
Will be quite proud of intellectual achievements.
Note: Information not giving something new like Arithmetic
Ec - starts with experience, ends with thinking
Ecc - comfortable with that adjustment.
Some E behavior can show through without being threatening
Under stress becomes more I like maintaining basic
Ecu - Intellectually active in a borrower range
Active.
Ecu and Icu look a lot alike - both ambivalent
Ecu physically active in a limited intellectual area
Ecu can be very productive or pathological
R
Rc broadens impulsivity - wider view of environment
Ru imitative - hight dependent on environment
Can go off half-cocked
Ruu (f') imitates, perseverates, and without practical rules
f' - primitive F is chaotic and this is chaotic
can show confused F behavior
Ruc focused orderly person in a practical way. Less dependent
environment. Asks practical questions. Doesn't have the "let's look around"
of the Rc, but "Let's ask someone".
High comprehension makes this a useful R
Rc Both R and F qualities
Rcc - Take Rc and practical way of getting rules so surface R
Rcu - emphasizes F aspects - not practical. Emphasizes feelings
and options. Complex is better than simple.
F
Fu most common in our culture
Lots that the culture appreciates and demands F behavior
Fc inhibits F abilities
Fc narrows world - ability to deal with complex confusing stimuli
Fuu - not much practicality. Diffuse quality.
This person needs some support to have survived. If an Ic organized thinking
may make this more viable with environmental structure.
Fuc - brings practicality and control.
Brings both R and F skills.
Fuc most common primitive F - most productive in the widest range of
circumstances.
Fcc - adds some practical judgment.
High C ameliorates the narrowing of the Fc.
Fcc can be productive - just not tuned into other's feelings and not
tolerant of ambiguity etc.
Fcu - Hard to find an environmental circumstance that it is productive.
Hell's Angel - but that is a narrow range.
Focus, inhibition of the Fc and then low C score. Lack of practical
judgment and emotional control.
Potential for emotional outbursts - probably came from rough background.
It may be possible to change basic in this case by bringing up S score.
Foc we see a lot.
A/U then a case
