Case:  35 year old male. Married. Recovered alcoholic.

Come in for anxiety and depression. 
Not a very unhealthy adjustment but some tensions and unusual

History: Youngest of immigrant Poles - little English
  farmers. 7 or 8 older siblings. Apple of parents' eyes.
  IFU - good child - mystical fanciful flights - seen by family as special
  Some not alive at this time - he said they were all rather pedestrian - got
   jobs.
  Few Poles in small town Vermont
  taught to hide under table when someone came to door
    Don't learn much about the outside world
  Tall - good at basketball about 12 or 13 - saving grace.
    Accepted perhaps as strange but for being good.
  Moved to a larger community in MA with many Poles so more social activity
  Felt weird - played HS basketball but very quiet
  Learned that drinking made feelings he did not want went away
  Did OK in high school.

  Joined the Navy - stayed sober on duty. Happy drunk off duty.
  While in service met a hard working girl from similar background
    - likely IRU (culture giver - good Polish wife).
  Out of service did not get a job - wife supported.
  Parents gave him a lot of money - none to other siblings.
  Interest on $200K 15 years ago a good living with wife working.

  Went from fun alcoholic to debilitated alcoholic and wife sent him to AA
  Found a home in AA

  Stopped drinking - went daily (or more) to AA meetings - that was his "job"

  Met through a mutual friend who went to AA (friend was professor)
    Prof got him to go to junior college. Finished
    Prof got him to go to further college.
    Prof and him took care of each other
    Got BA and got a job
    But fits of depression and anxiety - almost hyper active.

  Prof sent him to Bob.
  Would pace in office and talk about how stupid he was.
    Degree in geriatrics - worked in agency. Did well.
  When depressed could sit, when not had to move all around.  

  Would not consider medication - AA says substance is bad.

  After 2 years got him to psychiatrist. 
     Put on Lithium - could sit still. Unusual for I+.
     Could listen. For first time - found out what world was like.
  Alcohol had controlled mania - pushed him down. But really down when
    depressed. Think NL 14 to have gotten through degree.

IFU highly theoretical speculative. I+ passive. Richness of F in his head.
  Special kid in his family - in some families would be called crazy.

Basic level a little social anxiety - pay a little attention.
  Could not hold himself together to be Uc

  Played basketball (pickup) while an undergrad age 30
  some varsity players tried to recruit him

At age 34 trying to discover world

Stressful - doing things most of us do in adolescent
Guu - needs stress to get galvanized

I+u+ - schizoid. DSY an M so in contact. 

Stress: Galvanized by stress. But if too high, revert to I+u+ - right back
  inside himself. Needs to stick with groups of people but social skills
  minimal. Can't tell when to keep mouth shut.
  Hard to get to do things that he doesn't think he can

F - kept it. Out of chaos had a lot practical judgment. Never involved with law.
 c+ compulsive. Under stress, vigorously rigid about how he id things.
 His wife: from his view, anyone who married me did not have high standards
   Handsome but "geeky" - no social facade. What came into head came out mouth.
   Lots of ambivalence about marriage. Thought of leaving but "what will
     I do without her?" So said "She is good woman" so stayed.
   She was infertile.
 Got bored with job - clients loved him. Wife still made more than him.
 Applied for supervisor position (not thinking of getting it). Got it and
   was scared - "What am I going to do?"
   But with G+ - did not fall apart.
   Stopped seeing clients - stayed in office shuffling paper.
      c+ could do well but boring
      Had to play office games- got paranoid about this - could not tell 
      what they wanted. Picked up that they saw him strange (F) but did
      not know what to do with it.
 Wife infertile - wife wanted to adopt    
   Took foster children (siblings) - borderline IQ abused
   Through agency found out about fertility clinic. After foster kids
     6 months, she got pregnant. 
   Foster girl they could deal with sexuality and no judgment - she 
     was placed elsewhere. Boy (9) stayed.
   Wife did not want to go back to work.
     Guu wanted to keep boy, wife said no. They gave him up.
       Visit him - he calls them dad and mom.
   Looking for another job. But likes stress of current one. Long commute.

Fuc+ big picture with compulsive organization. Won't change until he knows
  what is involved. Can stand stress (may like) of present job.
  Not very socially adept so interviews not good.
  Spacey (I+u+) - shy. Constant internal critic.

Not likely to change career much.
Wife wants another baby. Practical sense may make him budge to shorter commute.

Likely to always have a vague discontent. IFU can be very creative and job
  is pretty routine. 

Surface helps understand his high school.
Co workers see surface - blunt, quiet,not very social.

But really poet, basketball player, but bored in job.

Bob would have pushed to a different degree than geriatrics.
